Park City… We’re not in Kansas anymore Toto!

The weekend of April 30 and May first was a wet one in Warrensburg and Wheatland, Missouri. We pulled into town that Friday and shortly after they canceled the race due to rain. The crew and I went to dinner and hung out that night in Warrensburg. On Saturday morning we woke up to more rain and the cancellation of the Saturday night race in Wheatland.

I scrambled to find a track that we could stop by on our way home to utilize all the miles we traveled. Our new crew guy, Billy Jack, mentioned a track he raced at in Wichita, Kansas. We found the track info and adjusted our route and it was well worth it. The weather was perfect and I had my best finish yet. I started at the back of the A-main and brought home my first top ten finish, placing 9th. I had made it to the 6th position with two laps left when two cars wrecked in front of me. I checked up and lost two positions and ended up grabbing 9th instead.
This has been my best race so far in my sprint car with everything feeling, working and responding amazingly. I learned to ride the high line and what an incredible feeling of g-force and exhilaration! I'm looking forward to our upcoming race weekend at the end of the month now that I truly know what it feels like to ride that crazy edge!

Greenwood, NEB: I-80 Speedway 4/2010

Justin’s sprint car was an extreme machine for the 2010 Midwest Season opener this past weekend at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska. Last season this is where Justin had his first major wreck, but he didn’t let that intimidate him. The track is high banked and super, super fast.

“We clearly have the skills and equipment to get the job done this season!” We didn't make the A-main, but the car was extremely fast and we learned a lot about how it’s supposed to handle! Friday night Justin started in the last row inside 9th position. He was struggling with the turn four corner exit and finished last in his heat. That put him in the last row 18th position of the B-main. He had a good finish of 13th.
Saturday night he was much faster. He started second row inside 4th position. On the start he spun the tires and lost some ground and finished 7th. That started him at the back of the B-main where he finished 10th. Overall a great start to the season.
We’re off this weekend and head to Missouri at the end of the month. Justin would like to thank his crew for a great start to the season and has high expectations for the year. Glory to God as He continues to open doors in the racing community and His blessings over 2010 as it is going to be a monumental season!

Working on the car.

2009 Season Recap

We had such a great opportunity this season to race with many different series. Although this kept us out of the points chase, Justin and his dad were able to gain valuable experience racing against some of the world’s greatest sprinters. From the Rocky Mountain & Northwest ASCS series to the NCRA guys in Kansas, to the Big Sky Sprint car tour in Montana…we have been everywhere this summer! Each race has taught us something new, which has added to our successful season.
The different tracks, series, and groups of drivers have offered incredible learning experiences. Each series brought new challenges of unknown tracks, being the outsider and learning to adapt to changes. This pushed Justin to race harder and faster, which has developed his driving skills and confidence in his car.
The communication between Justin and his crew chief (dad) has also improved this season. They understand one another better and continue to work on driver/crew chief communication.
To God be the Glory for his protection and blessings over the entire season and thanks to our powerful race angels. This season is absolute proof that with God, all things are possible!
Mom and Dad, we know this would never have happened without you guys in the pits with us. Thank you for spending many weekends with us along with your financial support and commitment.
Special thanks to all of our sponsors out there. We could not have run this season without your support and faith in our team. Huge thanks to our families and prayer warriors… we value your prayers, love and encouragement. You are our shield! And Justin is ever thankful for his smokin’ hot wife for all of the late nights, dusty tracks, support and encouragement she gives me. I couldn’t do it without you.
And we can’t forget our wonderful Tazzer. He makes us smile and it would not be the same traveling without our beloved dog. And race friends…we look forward to another season racing next to you.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1
Don’t look back!
